ITRI-98-11 A Blackboard Model of Accenting
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper outlines a model of accenting that is based on a combination of syntactic/metrical and semantic/pragmatic considerations. The model, called the blackboard model of accenting in an allusion to the blackboard architectures used in artificial intelligence, explains how the interaction of various factors (namely ‘triggers’ as well as ‘obstacles’ for accenting) determines the locations of sentence accents in speech. The interactions between factors related to novelty and constrast are studied in some detail. The paper focuses on the problem of accent location in the prosodic component of a concept-to-speech system.

Towards a Blackboard Model of Accenting
This paper sketches the outlines of a model of accenting that is inspired by the so-called`blackboard' architectures used in artiicial intelligence. This simple model, which is based on a combination of syntactic/metrical and se-mantic/pragmatic considerations, tries to explain how a conspiracy of various factors (namelyòbstacles' as well as`triggers' for accenting) determines the locations of ...
متن کاملA blackboard architecture for computational auditory scene analysis
A challenging problem for research in computational auditory scene analysis is the integration of evidence derived from multiple grouping principles. We describe a computational model which addresses this issue through the use of a `blackboard' architecture. The model integrates evidence from multiple grouping principles at several levels of abstraction, and manages competition between principl...
